About MeowWise

How we write
- Answer first. Every page starts with a direct answer to its main question, then explains the detail.
- Sourced. We base our guides on veterinary schools (such as the Cornell Feline Health Center and the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine), veterinary associations (AAFP, AAHA, AVMA, WSAVA), cat welfare charities (International Cat Care, Cats Protection, RSPCA), government agencies and peer reviewed research. Each guide lists its sources at the bottom.
- No made up facts. If we cannot find a reliable source for a claim, we leave it out.
- Original writing. All text and illustrations on MeowWise are original.
- Updated. Each guide shows the date it was last updated. When guidance changes, we revise the page.
What MeowWise is not
MeowWise is general education. We are not veterinarians and nothing here replaces an examination by a vet who knows your cat. If you are worried about your cat's health, contact your veterinarian; in an emergency, go to the nearest emergency vet.
Advertising and independence
MeowWise currently has no advertising, sponsored content or affiliate links. If that changes, we will say so clearly on the pages concerned and in our disclaimer and privacy policy.
